Neurosurgical Associates Allina Health has a full-time practice opportunity for a BC/BE Neurosurgeon to join our skilled and collegial group based at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Abbott Northwestern's Neuroscience Institute is the leading center for neurological care in the Twin Cities. Abbott Northwestern's Neuroscience team offers multidisciplinary staff of dedicated physicians, professional neuroscience nurses and skilled technical staff providing our patients with the most comprehensive neurological care.
Key Position Details:
This position will support Allina Health Neurosurgery and join a growing team. We are looking for a ACGME trained general neurosurgeon with capability to do both spine and cranial.
Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care.
- Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
- Provides the operative and nonoperative management (i.e., prevention, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, critical care, and rehabilitation) of disorders of the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems, including their supporting structures and vascular supply.
- Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
- Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
- Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
- Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
- Participates in neuroscience research activities.
- Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
- Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
- May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
- May participate in on-call rotation
- Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
- May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an approved school of medicine required
- Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Neurological Surgery required
- ABNS board eligible or certified, strongly preferred
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire and
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 180 days
- PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire
- Licensed Physician - WI upon hire required depending on business unit upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required
- Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required
- National Provider Identifier upon hire required
- Evenings and weekend call 1 in 6
- Primarily located at Allina Health - United Hospital with the ability to cover as needed at Allina Health- Abbott Northwestern Hospitals
