Pulmonary Disease / Critical Care Officer - Army Reserve Medical Scholarships; Monthly Stipends

As a Pulmonary Disease/Critical Care Officer, you’ll treat Soldiers and their Families with respiratory ailments. As a doctor in the Army Medical Corps, you’ll assess, recommend, and provide treatment and therapy to patients in intensive care units. You’ll also have the opportunity to advance the medical field by studying patients and researching new treatment possibilities.

Support Yourself During Residency With a Monthly Stipend

Get a monthly stipend while in residency with the Specialized Training Assistance Program (STRAP), in exchange for serving in the Army Reserve.

This program could be for you if you are currently in residency as a Pulmonary Disease / Critical Care Officer

STRAP provides you with a monthly stipend of $2,608

STRAP stipend may be taken concurrently with the Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (up to $250,000)

Army Reserve Soldiers are eligible for this program

Requirements for STRAP

STRAP is available for medical school graduates for residency training who meet the following criteria:

a. Be a graduate from an accredited school with an acceptable degree in medicine, osteopathic medicine in the United States or Puerto Rico.

b. Be enrolled or have a firm unconditional written acceptance for enrollment in a residency program for physicians in a medical specialty.

c. If in the Army Reserve, be eligible, and subsequently, be appointed/assigned as a Medical Corps (MC)officer in the SELRES.

d. Applicants in dual residency training programs are not eligible for STRAP, unless both programs are eligible when the contract is signed.
