Baptist Health Medical Center Little Rock, AR
Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR is seeking a sixth Advanced Heart Failure trained Cardiologist to join our team at the Baptist Health Heart Failure and Transplant Institute. Baptist Health is the largest hospital system in the state of Arkansas with twelve hospitals. The flagship hospital in Little Rock is an 850-bed facility.
Baptist Health has been a leader in cardiovascular services in Arkansas for almost 50 years. With each advancement in cardiovascular services over this time, Baptist Health has been the first: the first adult heart transplant (1989); the first LVAD (1999); and the first Total Artificial Heart (2015). In 2010, the Baptist Health Heart Failure and Transplant Institute was opened. The Institute is Arkansas’ first center devoted exclusively to advanced heart failure, MCS, and transplant, with an active adult ECMO program. Currently Baptist Health is the only active adult heart-transplant provider in Arkansas. To date, Baptist Health has performed 333 heart transplants and are following over 200 post-transplant patients. As one of the leading and top 5 enrolling centers of the Momentum trial and CAP, we have implanted over 500 patients with a HeartMate device. We are currently following over 200+ VAD patients in the community. We also recently implemented the first formal statewide Shock/ECMO program averaging 65+ ECMO cases a year.
Baptist Health is seeking to employ a Board Certified or Board Eligible Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist who will have an advanced heart failure, MCS and heart transplant practice, with both inpatient, outpatient and critical care responsibilities. Further interest in pulmonary hypertension, amyloid, and sarcoid will be supported also. There are currently five Cardiologists in the program and 100% of their practices are these patient populations. Together with the existing physicians, the new Advanced Heart Failure physician will receive referrals from around the state to this statewide advanced heart failure center. Our program receives over 600 new referrals each year.
Baptist Health has the infrastructure and resources in place to make this practice successful. The facility was built in 2010 and has thirteen exam rooms. The total facility space is almost 10,000 square feet. The support staff includes 4 VAD nurses, 3 transplant nurses, 6 heart failure nurses, 2 physician assistants, 3 advanced practice nurses, a social worker, a PharmD, a dietician, transplant administrator, financial manager and coordinators, data coordinator with additional clerical support staff. We have Echo, lab, x-ray and cardiopulmonary stress testing in the clinic. Clinical research is also well supported in our practice.
The ideal candidate will be a physician who is motivated to join a growing and diverse Advanced Heart Failure program, with a desire to help us continue to grow this dynamic program.
