Hospitalist - VCU Health, Tappahannock, VA: Serve a Rural Community with Academic Support

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) seeks a Hospitalist Physician to join the inpatient internal medicine team at VCU Tappahannock Hospital—a small, rural hospital nestled on the scenic banks of the Rappahannock River.

Position Highlights

  • Daytime Duties:
    • Admit patients from the ED or outpatient setting.
    • Manage a daily service of 10-15 inpatients.
    • Provide stepdown/intensive care with virtual intensivist support.
    • Co-manage surgical patients.
  • Night Shifts: Cross-cover the inpatient service and handle ED admissions.
  • Teaching Opportunities: Mentor VCU Internal Medicine residents and other learners, as desired.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • Experience managing complex inpatients.
  • Understanding of the hospitalist role in both rural and academic settings.
  • Dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
