Carle Health is seeking an experienced, full-time Board-Certified Pathologist to join our established Pathology department at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

- Preferred candidates should be Board Certified in both Anatomical and Clinical Pathology. Candidates with training in only Clinical Pathology are also welcome to apply.
- Ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience, but new grads are welcome to apply.
- Must have experience operating and overseeing clinical laboratories and be closely involved in daily operations.
- Position involves oversight of operations over the clinical lab with additional duties involving other sites in the system, reporting to the Medical Director of Pathology.
- This position will also oversee the Transfusion service and its call coverage and direct the active transfusion services (Transfusion fellowship is a plus).
- For AP certified candidates, workload and cases are shared evenly amongst pathologists, with annual Pathology volume approximately 30,000 surgical cases, 10,000 gynecologic and 4,000 non-gynecologic cytology cases. There is an extensive immunohistochemistry staining menu with 21,000 stains performed annually.
- The Pathology group performs over 500 frozen sections per year and, utilizing a remote viewing technology, the group also has the ability to perform remote cell assessments from their office in addition to digitized peripheral smear reviews.
- Join a team of 8 Pathologists and 3 Pathologist Assistants that support the Anatomic and Clinical Pathology laboratory services for 3 hospitals (Carle Foundation Hospital, Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center, and Carle Richland Memorial Hospital) in addition to multiple clinic sites.
- Fully automated clinical laboratory with extensive specialized testing in each of the clinical lab sections resulting over 2.5 million tests with pathologist interpretation of blood smears and electrophoresis.
- The group supports 9 multispecialty care conferences and several specialty institutes within the Carle Health system including the Carle Digestive Health Institute and the Carle Cancer Institute.
