Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proven experience in successfully initiating and sustaining multi-agency and multi-community policy, system, and environmental change strategies.

• A demonstrated working knowledge of persons with complex psychiatric and addiction issues and their families.
• Proven skills in networking among a diverse group of agencies and organizations.
• Effective communication skills, including written and public speaking, and adept at dealing with people at various levels within the organization, as well as, external stakeholders and leaders.

Education / Experience

• Four year's Psychiatric residency training from an accredited program
• License to practice medicine in Tennessee

Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute (MBMHI) is a Joint Commission accredited psychiatric hospital that has been serving 52 counties in East Tennessee since 1961. Hospitalizations are typically on an involuntary basis and patients can also be referred by the court system for pre-trial evaluations.  The hospital offers 1 long-term care unit, 5 short-term care units, and therapeutic treatment units for a total of 165 beds.  Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute’s mission is to provide quality psychiatric services to individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness.
