RWJBarnabas Health is Seeking a Section Chief of Heart Failure in New Brunswick, NJ

Summary

The Section Chief of Heart Failure within the Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School provides oversight for all operational and programmatic aspects of the section and is responsible for supervision and leadership of assigned faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and management of the heart failure section; develop yearly divisional budgets in consultation with financial administrators and the health system’s service line.
  • Serve as liaison between the academic cardiology division and the hospital/health system’s cardiovascular service line, to establish and disseminate information and policies.
  • Promote interdisciplinary care, to include nurses, PA’s, surgical and medical specialties and other members of the heath care team.
  • Review and approve faculty requests for leave and schedule alterations to ensure adequate clinic/hospital and administrative coverage for the heart failure service.
  • Review quality metrics and outcomes with efficient use of resources.
  • Organize recruitment and retention of faculty in consultation with the Division Chief/Chair of Medicine.
  • Monitor performance standards and metrics of divisional faculty to ensure faculty meet personal targets for clinical performance of the RVU benchmarks for the specialty. Advise and recommend methods of improvement as necessary.
  • Coordination and execution of the faculty performance evaluation process for faculty within the section, recommend promotions and disciplinary actions.
  • Understand and implement all responsibilities related to heart failure services and ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Develop uniform teaching standards for divisional fellowship program at RWJUH and affiliate hospitals.
  • Oversight of and participation in the Division’s educational mission of teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
  • Develop CME programs.
  • Participation in the educational, patient care, research and other activities of the Department.
  • Work with philanthropy officer to facilitate Department fund raising efforts.
