Gastroenterology Division Director
The Division of Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Hepatology is seeking a Division Director. The Division of Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Hepatology is a large and diverse group, composed of 25 board certified physicians, 6 clinical psychologists and 17 Advanced Practice Nurses and continues to grow. There are four sections within the division, including the Sections of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Transplantation, Neurogastroenterology & Motility and Gastroenterology Psychology. The Division provides over 20,000 outpatient visits yearly with nearly half being provided in multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary clinics. There are 17 multi/interdisciplinary programs hosted within the Division and participates in 5 multi/interdisciplinary clinics housed outside of the Division.
The hallmark of clinical operations is holistic team care to meet the comprehensive needs of all our patients. In addition to clinics at our primary Adele Hall Campus, the division provides clinics at four other Children’s Mercy locations within the Kansas City metropolitan area plus four regional outreach locations. Many of our programs provide consultative service to pediatric gastroenterology programs across a six-state region. The Division also has two inpatient teams, one providing direct patient care for gastroenterology and hepatology patients and the other providing consultative service to other teams.
The Division is one of the largest in the US and nationally recognized for providing excellent care for children with complex intestinal, liver, esophageal and nutritional disorders. For example, our unique abdominal pain program is led by dedicated gastroenterologists and clinical psychologists. Our IBD program is one of the largest in the nation and actively participating in the ImproveCareNow Collaborative network. With four dedicated physicians, our neurogastroenterology and motility program is one of the largest in the nation and provides a full array of motility diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Our polyposis team is a key contributor for clinical position papers and guidelines for both American and European pediatric gastroenterology societies, and The Division has a robust and extensive procedural program, performing nearly 5,000 procedures annually, including advanced procedures such as ERCP and double-balloon enteroscopy.
The division is active in scholarly activities including teaching and research. The Division has a long-standing ACGME-approved pediatric gastroenterology fellowship program and an embedded research team with capabilities across the full array of transitional research activities. The Division publishes over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts yearly and typically sponsors over 70 on-going research studies at any given time.
The successful applicant must share our unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, collegiality, antiracism, and respect for inclusion of individuals with diverse backgrounds.
