Opportunity Details

Baptist Health Medical Center Stuttgart (BHMC-S) is seeking two OB/GYNs to join the hospital staff. The opportunity is an employed position with Arkansas Health Group, a subsidiary of Baptist Health.

With one current provider with a very busy practice that is nearing retirement and one other OB/GYN, this opportunity is for two new providers to work together in a group practice to serve the community.  We will consider two who currently work together or recruit physicians separately.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has the drive and enthusiasm to build a practice that can provide as much local care as possible so that patients do not have to drive to nearby cities for obstetric and gynecologic care.

This employed position has a starting base salary of $350,000 along with a commencement bonus of $50,000. There is the opportunity of a quality bonus of $25,000 beginning in year 2 and additional monies available with an RVU productivity model. There are 5 weeks of leave along with 1 week of CME ($5,000).

Stuttgart is known as the Duck and Rice Capital of the World and for those who are a fan of outdoor activities, Stuttgart is a hunting and fishing paradise.  Each year, hunters flock to the area for some of the best duck and goose hunting that can be found.  Deer hunting is also very popular.  In addition, the World Championship Duck Calling Contest is held in November each year during the Wings Over the Prairie Festival.

The hospital has received several awards for excellence in patient satisfaction, quality, and outcomes, including a five star rating by CMS in 2020. In 2022 it was named a top 100 rural and community hospital by Chartis. It has also been named in the top 9% of hospitals nationwide for OB by a national rating organization (the last 2 years), achieved Silver Level National Certification as a Safe Sleep Hospital – Cribs for Kids, and also received its’ Baby Friendly Designation, to name a few.

The community also has a state-of-the-art convention center and auditorium which was opened in 2011.  The center is now being completely renovated and is slated to reopen later in 2022.  The multi-purpose facility was built to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community and hosts such events as the Arkansas Ballet, plays, receptions, parties and other events.  This convention center is located on the campus of the Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas.

The citizens of Stuttgart have shown strong support for the hospital as proven by the passing of a 1- cent sales tax which generates annually over $2.5 million dollars. This is invested into the hospital facility by purchasing new technology including: fetal monitoring equipment; digital mammography and ultrasound; a 160 slice CT; and there are plans for many other upgrades in the upcoming years.  The hospital is a 49- bed facility with three surgical suites, one endoscopy suite, a minor treatment room, and a separate outpatient surgical area.

The population of BHMC-S’s service area is roughly 36,000. However, the local primary care physicians care for patients not only in Stuttgart, but also in six other rural health clinics located within a 50 mile radius of Stuttgart. These clinics serve an additional population of 15,000. This greatly expands the draw area for patient referrals.  Over 61,000 primary care visits were serviced in those rural health clinics in 2021, providing an OB/GYN a strong referral base.  Additional providers are planned in the upcoming year. The facility averages around 200 deliveries annually with the potential to expand that number to 300 by increased exposure to the referring clinics and the addition of another provider.

Stuttgart is located only a short drive from Little Rock for those who are interested in a big city, access to a national airport, and other activities like shopping.  Memphis, TN is also located approximately 108 miles away.

For a small town atmosphere, close to the big city, you can’t beat this opportunity.
