Pulmonologist w/ UofL Physicians Group

University of Louisville Physicians (ULP) is seeking Pulmonologists for its facilities in Louisville, KY.  This position will be attending physician for the Pulmonary and Critical Care services at the UofL Health facilities in Louisville, KY. The schedule will include both pulmonary consultations and Medical Intensive Care Unit rotations.

Week day attendings are required to be in house from 7am — 5pm. After-hours services consist of night and weekends. Night call is 5pm — 7am and each physician averages 2 nights per week of home call. Physician will be called for emergent procedures, admissions, and urgent consults. Weekend services include Saturday and Sunday rounding on pulmonary floor and ICU patients, as well as home from 5pm on Friday — 7Am on Mondays.

In addition to inpatient services the attending physician will provide outpatient clinics services at the UofL Health facilities. Responsibilities include general pulmonary clinics as well as subspecialty clinics based on the provider's expertise. Outpatient clinics will be held 2-3 half days per week when the physician is not in the ICU.

Physician will be performing Pulmonary Core privileges, which include admitting, evaluating, diagnosing, treating and providing consultative services to patients presenting with diseases, injuries and disorders of the thorax or chest; the lungs and airways, cardiovascular, tracheobronchial systems, esophagus, and other mediastinal contents, diaphragm and circulatory system.

Physician will be performing procedures that include but not limited to:

  • Insertion/management of chest tube
  • Insertion/ management of central venous catheters
  • Bronchoscopy w/wo biopsy
  • Paracentesis, thoracentesis
  • Mechanical ventilation management, chronic and acute
  • Percutaneous tracheostomy
  • Tracheal intubations
  • Moderate Sedation/Analgesia

Minimum Education or other required credentials:

Must have M.D. or foreign equivalent degree; License to practice medicine in Commonwealth of Kentucky; Board eligible or Board certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care.

 

Travel required between UofL Health facilities within the Louisville metro area.
