Pediatric Radiologist – M60417

The Department of Radiology at Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia is currently inviting applications for a full-time pediatric radiologist. Current fellows are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should have an interest and commitment to teaching residents and medical students. Expertise in most aspects of general pediatric radiology is required (excluding interventional radiology and nuclear medicine). Teleradiologists provide coverage for overnight studies originating from the ED.

The successful candidate must be ABR certified or have passed the Core Component of the ABR Board examination. Pediatric Radiology fellowship training is required. The applicant must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. Candidate must be eligible for a Virginia medical license and for permanent employment in the USA. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

The Medical College of Virginia Hospitals has 822 beds with a Level 1 Trauma Center, a comprehensive cancer center, a large liver/kidney transplantation service, and a large adjacent outpatient facility.

The current Children’s Hospital of Richmond is the only Level I pediatric trauma center in central and western Virginia and is the only medical center in the state accredited to perform pediatric stem cell transplant. The state of the art PICU was recently expanded to 20 beds, making it the largest in the region. There is a 40 bed NICU as well as a dedicated 12 bed pediatric emergency room. U.S. News & World Report recognized Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in its new 2018-19 Children’s Hospital rankings. VCU is so dedicated to caring for children that our new Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU is under construction and scheduled to open in early 2023. It will be a state-of-the-art, life changing, lifesaving institution for all children in our community. The facility will house 86 private inpatient beds, new operating rooms, imaging capacity, emergency department space and family amenities.

VCU’s state-of-the-art Children's Pavilion opened in the spring of 2016 and is the largest, most advanced outpatient facility dedicated to children in the region. It provides a robust opportunity for interdisciplinary research, education, and leadership. The Pavilion includes dedicated pediatric radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT equipment and dedicated pediatric radiologic and nursing support staff. It also has the only dedicated pediatric MRI unit in central and western Virginia (Siemens 3T Skyra).
