The Pulmonologist (Critical Care Intensivist) positions serve under the direction of the Chief Pulmonologist in Medicine Service at VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) in Reno, NV. The Physicians are responsible for all aspects of pulmonary and critical care to veteran patients. The facility has ability to do advanced procedures such as EBUS and right heart catheterization
Duties of the position include but are not limited to:
VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) provides inpatient and outpatient care to a large geographical area that includes 20 counties in northern Nevada and northeastern California. The Reno campus is the site of the Ioannis A. Lougaris VA Medical Center, which operates 64 hospital beds and 60 Community Living Center (CLC) beds. VASNHCS also manages community-based outpatient clinics in Auburn and Susanville, CA, and Carson Valley, Lahontan Valley, Fallon, and Winnemucca, NV. VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System provides health care to approximately 120,000 veterans.

The Reno campus operates 64 hospital beds, 60 Community Living Center beds, 14 ED beds, 12 ICU beds and 14 inpatient psych beds, in addition to four Community Based Outpatient Clinics and one rural outreach clinic. Academic affiliations for VASNHCS are the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine and the East Bay Surgical Program at the University of California, San Francisco. Approximately 45 medical, surgical, and psychiatry residents rotate annually through VASNHCS. Reno VA has 4 surgical suites in addition to cystoscopy and urology anesthesia suites. Approximately 50-55 cases per week are performed in orthopedics, general, ENT, urology, vascular, thoracic and GYN surgical specialties/subspecialties.
