ADVANCED HEART FAILURE CARDIOLOGY POSITION

Mercy Bon Secours Healthcare system is currently seeking Heart Failure Cardiologist with expertise and training in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation to join their established practice at Advanced Heart Failure Center at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond. Our program is recognized for high-quality, comprehensive care in all spectrum of heart failure therapies and completed Joint Commission Certification for Destination Therapy LVAD in 2011.

Qualified candidates should be:

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant
  • Proficient in management of LVAD, heart transplant and short-term mechanical support devices including Impella and ECMO
  • Eager to work in a growing, high-volume practice and have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program.
  • More than 5 years post-fellowship experience is preferred but graduating fellows are welcome to apply
  • Optional: able to perform right heart catherization’s and RV biopsies, Cardiomems

Job Description:

  • Full time and permanent position
  • Inpatient consultative and outpatient care responsibilities
  • Primary night call and weekend call coverage 1:5
  • Minimal general call responsibility.

Practice Highlights:

  • The practice is a strong, multidisciplinary team which provides comprehensive patient care with excellent outcomes in advanced heart failure and LVAD therapy
  • Moderate size LVAD program; we do not perform heart transplantations
  • The group collaborates closely with four regional heart transplant referral centers
  • Advanced surgical treatment options include LVAD, minimally invasive options including bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, and implantable heart devices, including Impella 5

About Practice:

  • Team is comprised of 1 physician, 3 ANP, 3 VAD coordinators, 1 social worker, 3 clinical nurses, 2 nurse navigators and various clerical support staff.
  • Consultative inpatient service is provided at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian and Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville.
