Family Medicine Residency Program Faculty

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a  Board Certified Family Physician for a full time faculty position in the UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. 
The Assistant Professor faculty level position will support the educational, patient care, and quality improvement missions of UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program. 
 
The 12-month, non-tenure-track clinical faculty position resides at the University of Arkansas South Central Campus. This position requires the provision of clinical services in a patient centered medical center South Central Regional campus. The position will serve as a key member of the inter-professional patient care team, collaborating with patients, family members and healthcare professionals to deliver quality, efficient, and cost-effective healthcare. 
 
In addition to clinical services, the position requires teaching of students; clinical education of pharmacy and medical residents, medical students, and healthcare professionals; and service to UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program, the College of Pharmacy, and the profession. Collaborative scholarly and creative efforts are also expected. 
 
Requirements
  • Must have successfully graduated from an ACGME or OGME accredited Family Medicine Residency Program
  • Must be Board Certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Arkansas medical license
  • Must be able to obtain a DEA license
 
The UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program, the oldest Regional Programs Family Medicine Residency Program in the state, is one of seven sister UAMS Family Medicine Residency Programs located throughout the state and operating under the Regional Programs Division of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, located in Little Rock, Arkansas.  UAMS South Central has the broad support of both hospital-based and community-based physicians in South Arkansas and the main campus in Little Rock.  UAMS South Central’s sponsoring institution, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, is a 300 bed community based tertiary medical center located on the Arkansas River in the historic port city of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, which is a medium-sized city with suburban surroundings 39 miles south of the capital of Arkansas, Little Rock. Pine Bluff was incorporated January 8, 1839 and is among the oldest communities in Arkansas.  Pine Bluff is served by Grider Field Regional Airport in Pine Bluff and Clinton National Airport in Little Rock. An abundance of recreational activities is available in the area including boating, fishing, hunting, golfing, tennis and other outdoor activities.  Pine Bluff is also home to a thriving blues music community and is the home of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, founded in 1873 the Branch Normal College and with a current enrollment of 2,800.

These services are offered at both the Pine Bluff Family Medical Center and the Justiss-Lindsey Clinic. Little Rock is located in a beautiful part of the country. There are many state parks that are well maintained and offer ample opportunities for outdoor activities.

Little Rock thrives in “New South” culture, offering a booming nightlife, entertainment, and dining scenes. The hub of Little Rock is the bustling River Market District featuring restaurants, shops, bars, nightlife, museums and hotels as well as the area's main library. Focal points in the city include the Clinton Presidential Center & Park and the Central Arkansas Nature Center. The city is also home to 15 miles of scenic riverfront walking and cycling trails, along with one of the longest pedestrian and bicycle bridges in America. One highlight is that golf can be played 12 months a year. Arkansas is famous for its green timber duck hunting, bass fishing and even trout fishing on the world famous White River tail water. The Buffalo River, a pristine floatable 120-mile long protected national park is two hours from downtown Little Rock. Travel is relatively easy due to the close proximity of the Little Rock National Airport and a number of interstate highways. Memphis is 140 miles east, St. Louis is 360 miles north, Dallas is 325 miles southwest and New Orleans is 420 miles south. Moreover, the Little Rock School District has approximately 25,000 students, who are educated in 50 schools throughout the system, and is also the home of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
