The University of Kansas Health System, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transplant Hepatologist to join our dynamic team. This full-time position is an academic faculty role that integrates clinical practice, education, and research in the field of Transplant Hepatology and General Hepatology.

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is an academic and regional referral center. Patients come from all over the Midwest Region for advanced diagnosis and innovative treatments. 

Position Overview:

The Transplant Hepatologist will provide consultative services for patients at the University of Kansas Medical Center and multiple ancillary locations. Responsibilities include evaluating and managing pre- and post-operative liver transplant patients, as well as general hepatology cases. The role involves performing endoscopic procedures relevant to hepatology, seeing patients in the clinic as well as inpatient consult services, and participating in an on-call coverage rotation.

In addition to clinical duties, the physician will serve as a clinical educator, overseeing and mentoring internal medicine residents and medical students. They will lead a team of trainees in delivering high-quality care to hospitalized patients, provide education in core competencies based on trainee level, and actively participate in regular educational conferences and administrative meetings.

The role also involves engagement in scholarly activities, including supporting and participating in research initiatives related to Transplant Hepatology, contributing to educational programs within the department and the University, and engaging in quality improvement projects and academic collaborations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent)
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology
  • Completion of a Transplant Hepatology fellowship program
  • Eligible for medical license in Kansas and Missouri
