The Atlanta, GA VA Medical Center is searching for a BE/BC Family Practice/Internal Medicine Physician to join their dynamic healthcare team.
The openings are located at their Marietta, GA, Atlanta, GA, Rome, GA and Carrollton, GA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
The Primary Care physician work as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide medical care to veterans enrolled on the team. The physician is expected to demonstrate advance competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psychological status of patients. He/ she will provide comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to veterans in the Primary Care team setting. As a Physician you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured veterans.
Duties include documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with other health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; providing a full range of care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.
The Primary Care Physician provides primary medical care and is responsible for all aspects of patient care. Physician is responsible for referrals to specialists, ordering and or performing procedures, ordering and monitoring all medications as well as handling the acute needs of all their patients
The physician is accountable for ensuring the most cost effective delivery of care and meeting or exceeding established care quality standards.
The VA Healthcare System uses a comprehensive electronic medical record and is dedicated to providing primary medical care via a patient-centered medical home model. Physician will be assigned a patient panel of 1000-1200 patients.
Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
Salary Range: $240,000 - $270,000 per year
A recruitment/relocation incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate
Selected candidate may be eligible to apply for student loan repayment thru the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States: (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia
Education: Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Facility Information:
The Atlanta VA Medical Center is located at 1670 Clairmont Road in Decatur, Georgia. The medical center oversees seven VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Austell (Cobb County); Lawrenceville (Gwinnett County); Oakwood (Hall County); East Point (South Fulton County); Stockbridge (Henry County); Newnan (Coweta County) and Blairsville (Union County) in addition to an outpatient clinic in Decatur and an outreach clinic in Rome, Georgia.
CARROLLTON CLINIC / COMMUNITY LIVING CENTER (Trinka Davis Veterans Village)
In 2009, a charitable non-profit organization, the Trinka Davis Foundation, donated $20 million to acquire land, design and build a multi-specialty CBOC/CLC in Carrollton, Georgia. Completed in May 2012 and turned over to the VA in August 2012, this new combined specialty care outpatient clinic and community living center provides improved access to health care services to Veterans in Carroll, Haralson, Douglas and Paulding counties.
The Atlanta VAMC has 405 authorized inpatient beds (273 hospital, 120 Community Living Center and 12 PRRTP) and is a tertiary care facility classified as a Complexity Level 1A facility. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services complete with state-of-the-art technology, education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through emergency medicine, primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in the areas of medicine, surgery, mental health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. The Atlanta VAMC is part of the VA Southeast Network (VISN 7), which includes facilities in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina. The Atlanta VAMC Community Living Center serves metro Atlanta and includes extended care rehabilitation, psycho-geriatric care, and general long term care. The facility also serves as a prosthetics treatment center, fabricating and supplying mechanical devices such as artificial limbs for patients within the states of Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama.
