Responsible for providing direct patient care to newborns through 21 years of age in the Pediatric Emergency Department. Perform and interpret diagnostic tests. Offer telephone advice in response to physician's clinical questions. 1. Works cooperatively with the Section Chief and Associate Chief in short and long range planning for the Pediatric Emergency Department. 2. Provides medical care for all children who present to the Pediatric Emergency Department and participates in Medical follow up and discharge phone calls. 3. Assists in Performance Improvement and quality assessment activities for the Pediatric Emergency Department. 4. Provides coverage for all shifts as scheduled. 5. Works in conjunction with Nurse Manager and Section Chief/Associate Chief on policy development, patient satisfaction, and other initiatives as requested. 6. Serves as an educational resource for Nursing Staff, Pediatric Hospitalists, Students, Residents and Attendings at HUMC and in the community. Participates actively in teaching programs. 7. Serves on all appropriate HUMC Medical/Surgical committees relating to Pediatrics and other committees, as designated by the Medical Board, Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, and the Section Chief/Associate Chief of the Pediatric Emergency Department. 8. Develops, supervises and contributes to research projects within the Section. 9. Participates in effective communication with Nursing leadership and clinical Nursing personnel. 10. Contributes to the process of professional billing operations within the Section through accurate and timely completion of bills. 11. Interacting with and responding to patient survey and patient grievances regarding quality of care. Working Conditions:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. M.D. Degree from a recognized Medical School. 2. Eligible for faculty appointment at the New Jersey Medical School. 3. Ability to interface effectively with professional personnel. 4. Board Certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. 5. Board Eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, with appropriate re-certification. 6. Medical License in the State of New Jersey.
