Job Description

Neurology Center for Epilepsy and Seizures, LLC (NCES) is seeking a full-time adult epileptologist to serve as Medical Director of the Epilepsy Program at Community Medical Center (CMC) in Toms River, New Jersey. This is a unique, non-hospital-employed leadership opportunity to develop and grow an advanced epilepsy program with the support of RWJBarnabas Health and in collaboration with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The ideal candidate is a board-certified epileptologist with a strong background in surgical epilepsy management and an entrepreneurial spirit. The role offers a 50/50 split of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, with outpatient care delivered through Neurology Center for Epilepsy and Seizures, and inpatient consultative work based at CMC. The position provides the autonomy to shape the program’s direction, build a referral network, and enhance connectivity with RWJUH–New Brunswick for surgical evaluations and collaborative research.

Position Highlights:

  • Lead the development and growth of the epilepsy program at CMC in a full-time, non-hospital-employed role.
  • Mix of outpatient/inpatient and clinical cases split between NCES and CMC.
  • Emphasis on surgical epilepsy and complex case management.
  • Strategic opportunity to organize a stronger epilepsy care network across CMC and RWJUH–New Brunswick.
  • Minimal administrative oversight and significant autonomy to innovate and expand services.
  • RVU-based productivity bonus paid quarterly.
  • Competitive benefits including 4 weeks of vacation and 1 week of CME time.
  • Research and academic collaboration opportunities available, if desired.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Board-certified in Neurology.
  • Fellowship-trained in Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a practicing clinical epileptologist (exceptional recent fellowship grads will be considered).
  • Skilled in surgical epilepsy evaluation and care.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to build and maintain collaborative networks.
  • Considering candidates that require visa sponsorship if applicable
