Dayton Children’s Hospital and Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, both located in Dayton, Ohio, are seeking candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position as the Division Chief of Gastroenterology and Nutrition. The next Division Chief will lead a collegial, well established, and clinically strong pediatric gastroenterology service and will be expected to participate in patient care, teaching, and scholarship. The ideal candidate for this position is a nationally recognized physician-leader with a commitment to faculty development, sponsorship, recruitment, excellence in clinical care, research, and education. Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. degree.  10 years of experience as a pediatric gastroenterologist, demonstrated clinical excellence, and ability to effectively work with others. Leadership experience is preferred.

Dayton Children’s Hospital is a 181 bed (soon to be 220 beds with opening of a free standing Mathile Center for Health and Wellbeing), Level 1 Trauma Center, Magnet certified free standing tertiary care facility that serves the 20-county area in southwest Ohio and is academically affiliated with Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. DCH has a medical staff of over 250 specialty physicians representing forty-three medical and surgical divisions.  Annually, DCH cares for 101,675 ED visits, 560,000 ambulatory visits, 13,000 surgical procedures and 13,659 inpatient stays.

  • The Division of Gastroenterology is comprised of 9 physicians, 5 Advanced Practitioners, 4 Dieticians, 2 Social workers and 24 staff members. There are well established multidisciplinary programs including IBD, with national leadership in NASPGHAN and ImproveCareNow.
  • The division completed 15,835 outpatient visits last year and performed over 1600 procedures.
  • Teaching responsibilities include educating medical students and residents. Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and outpatient services at DCH’s Main campus and other sites.
