Job Description

Responsibilities

Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a Per Diem Radiologist - Breast Imaging,  to join our care team of 28 radiologists. This position offers multidisciplinary collaboration with a collegial team of dedicated and talented providers and staff, as well as the opportunity to teach in our radiology residency program. Opportunities and support for clinical and quality improvement research are available for those who are interested. There is no in-house call.

Position Highlights:

  • Team Approach to Breast & Diagnostic Imaging: The breast team collaborates to provide comprehensive screening, diagnostic, and interventional services for a wide variety of patients. In addition to providing care in breast radiology, our breast imaging radiologists read exams in another area of radiology to develop their knowledge and expertise outside of breast imaging. This might range from general plain films and ultrasound to subspecialty musculoskeletal, abdominal, or neuroradiology imaging, depending on their professional goals and training.

Radiologists participate in tumor board and multidisciplinary conferences with in-house medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists and pathologists. All members of the team have the same cultural approach to care: the patient comes first.

Virginia Mason supports multiple breast clinics staffed by ARNP's who see patients urgently for new concerns and to communicate biopsy results.

  • Teaching Program: Virginia Mason supports residency programs in radiology, anesthesiology, surgery, and internal medicine. Radiology faculty join us to teach as it is an important part of our mission. Teaching is a requirement and a highlight of what we do.

Residents cover the hospital radiology service in-house on weeknights from 7:30 pm until 7:30 am and on weekends from 5:00 pm to 7:30 am. There is no in-house overnight call for attending radiologists.

  • Research: Research is not required, but is encouraged and supported for those with an interest in clinical research or quality improvement. Internal pilot grants are available. The Virginia Mason Center for Health Care Improvement also supports publication of innovations in health care delivery and quality improvement.
  • Career Growth: The breast imaging section, radiology department and other departments within the medical center are dedicated to training and developing leaders from within the organization for those interested in clinical leadership roles.
