  • Provide evidence-based assessments and treatment for a wide range of psychological and emotional issues common among older adults, such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related behavioral changes, and grief.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
  • Partner with our Neuropsychology team to provide comprehensive cognitive and psychological assessments.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for staff, patients, and families on topics related to mental health.
  • Participate in program development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of Geropsychology services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters.
  • Stay current with the latest research and best practices in Geropsychology.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Geropsychology that adhere to Pike’s Peak Model.
  • Licensure or license eligibility to practice psychology in Virginia.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive assessments and providing evidence-based interventions for older adults.
  • Strong understanding of the unique mental health needs of the aging population.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for improving the lives of older adults and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in program development and implementation is highly desired.

Why Valley Health?

  • Be a pioneer in building a much-needed service line.  You are the expert – we are here to support you.
