Responsibilities

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, a part of the Pacific Northwest Division of CommonSpirit, is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Board Certified or Board Eligible Maternal Fetal Medicine physician to join our esteemed team in Tacoma, WA.

Position Overview

We are a well-established and busy physician and midwife women's health group located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Our group consists of 9 OB/GYN physicians, 18 CNM’s, 6 MFM, 1 Urogynecologist and 2 Gynecologic Oncologists.  We provide evidenced-based women's healthcare services to Tacoma and surrounding communities. Our practices are strategically located near the hospitals from which we practice.

Candidates must be hardworking, compassionate, and dedicated to providing superior patient care. The practice is primarily clinic based with some inpatient duties when on call.  Our team takes call by the week on a 1:5 rotation.  It is rare to be in house when on call.  Providers typically deliver 1-3 babies per month.  Procedures include cerclages and amniocentesis with CVS and fetal echocardiogram optional.  Support staff includes MA’s and nurses to assist with diabetic education as well as fully trained MFM sonographers.  Our group also has GYN/ONC and UroGyn support readily available.

Our group serves in one of the most rapidly growing areas in the country. Living in the Puget Sound Region provides for active city life, but still offers plenty of outdoor adventures. You can choose between city living and the suburbs.

Hospital Overview

St Joseph Hospital is a 375 bed, Level II Trauma Center located in Tacoma.  There is 24/7 in house Laborist and Anesthesia coverage.  St. Joe’s has a Level III NICU capable of caring for infants as young as 24 weeks as well as a partnership with Seattle Children’s for specialty newborn care if needed.  St. Joe’s has achieved Baby Friendly designation as well as recognition by the International Lactation Consultant Association for excellence in lactation care.
