Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system in western Massachusetts which consists of an academic medical center, three community hospitals and the region’s largest multispecialty group.  Our flagship hospital, Baystate Medical Center, is home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate.  UMASS Chan Medical School-Baystate, Baystate Health, Springfield MA is seeking a full time Surgical Pathologist with expertise in Gastrointestinal, Thoracic and Head and Neck Pathology.

Position Highlights:

 

  • Join our well-established team of 21 experienced subspecialty trained pathologists working in an academic medical center- based practice covering western Massachusetts region.
  • The anatomic pathology department processes around 45000 surgical pathology specimens per year and provides subspecialty expertise in breast/gynecologic pathology, GI pathology, Thoracic pathology, GU pathology, medical renal pathology, dermatopathology, neuropathology, as well as hematopathology, among others.
  • Ability to participate in a subspecialty practice model to pursue professional interests in diagnostic pathology and translational research supported by our state-of-the-art laboratories and resources providing the highest quality of clinical service.
  • Faculty appointment to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate and the opportunity to teach residents and fellows in Pathology and other specialty programs as well as rotating medical students and other learners. Scholarly pursuits are encouraged and supported by strong research infrastructure.
  • This position is full-time. Infrequent night and weekend calls are required and while clinical pathology interests will be considered they are not required.

Qualifications: MD/DO with residency training in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology or Anatomic Pathology only required; BE/BC by the American Board of Pathology; The ideal candidate would possess strong surgical pathology skills with fellowship training in Surgical Pathology or Gastrointestinal Pathology; Candidates with Cytopathology fellowship and additional training/experience in surgical pathology including Gastrointestinal and Thoracic Pathology will also be considered.
