About the Role:
Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute (MTMHI) is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric care in a hospital setting. MTMHI serves 17 counties and offers comprehensive psychiatric services, including short-term and long-term care, forensic services, and therapeutic treatment programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat individuals with complex psychiatric and addiction disorders.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including court-ordered pre-trial assessments.
- Provide leadership in policy, system, and environmental change strategies.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, external agencies, and community stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Medical license to practice in Tennessee
- Completion of a four-year psychiatric residency from an accredited program
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Adult Psychiatry

The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (DMHSAS) is charged with planning for and promoting an array of services from prevention and early intervention to resiliency and recovery. Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute (MTMHI), located in Nashville, is a psychiatric hospital that has been serving 18 counties in Middle Tennessee since 1995. Hospitalizations are on a voluntary or involuntary basis, or patients can also be referred by the court system for pre-trial evaluations. The hospital offers 4 long-term care units, 3 short-term care units, forensic services, and therapeutic treatment units for a total of 207 beds.
