Maximus is seeking MD/DO professionals to join our team as Expert Medical Advisors (EMA), providing expert medical opinions, peer reviews, and expert testimony in Florida Workers' Compensation cases. As an EMA, you will play a critical role in resolving disputes related to reimbursement, differing opinions between healthcare providers, and complex healthcare matters.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert medical opinions to resolve disputes regarding workers’ compensation cases, including issues of treatment necessity, disability determination, and return-to-work capabilities.
  • Serve as a neutral third-party expert when there is a disagreement between independent medical examiners or healthcare providers.
  • Offer testimony in legal settings when doctors disagree on medical evidence or treatment recommendations.
  • Your medical opinion will be given a legal presumption of correctness unless clear and convincing evidence to the contrary is presented.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active and clean Florida Medical License.
  • Direct Patient Care experience.
  • Board Certified in your specialty.
  • 5+ years of post-training experience in your specialty.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Submission of 2 completed Florida Workers Compensation Uniform Medical Treatment/Status Reporting Forms.
  • Submission of 2 completed Independent Medical Examination Reports (related to injured employee treatment or disability determination) within the past 2 years.
  • Completion of 20 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME).
  • 95% passing rate on EMA Tutorial review questions.
