Job Description

Scope

This role reports to the service line Senior Medical Director of Medical Group. This position is expected to collaborate, communicate, and build relationships with all members of the healthcare team as appropriate.

Type of Leads will vary in FTE:

Clinic Lead, Single site = 6 hours per month

Clinic Lead, Multiple sites = 8 hours per month

Clinic Lead, Complex site = 10 hours per month

Job Essentials

Engaged Care Giver

Helps create and support a collaborative, psychologically safe environment for providers and caregivers in the clinic.

Actively creates and supports a clinic leadership team composed of a lead physician, practice manager/director, RN coordinator / lead RN, and APP lead.

Meets regularly with clinic manager, RN coordinator, and care management team to help address and improve clinical and operational issues.

Actively participates in monthly meetings with the clinic Personalized Primary Care (PPC) leadership team. Works with this team to develop and update clinical and operational team-based care processes.

Leads monthly clinic provider meetings.

Meets regularly with the service line medical director or medical director and serves as a liaison for the providers in the clinic.

Attends the bi-monthly or quarterly Leadership Council meeting.

Attends the monthly PPC meeting.

Leads clinic specific provider recruitment efforts.

Helps to develop a recruitment strategy with their local team and respective service line that promotes smart growth and access. Works to ensure there is effective bi-directional communication between the frontline caregivers, service line leaders, and the MG Sr leadership team.

Safety

Understands and champions the use of the Intermountain Operating Model, including co-leading the daily clinic huddle.

Ensures that clinic providers attend the daily huddle on a regular basis.

Works with the practice manager to help resolve provider and staff concerns.

Supports the clinic manager in addressing any clinic concern that may arise.

At the request of service line or region leaders, meets with clinic providers for any safety issues that may arise.

Works with the service line or region medical directors when crucial conversations are required to address unprofessional or disruptive provider behavior.

Quality/Access

Supports the implementation of Intermountain Medical Group quality initiatives such as STARS measures, ACO quality metrics, HEDIS measures, and NCQA elements in the clinic.

Supports and participates in Committee or Clinical Program activities to improve collaboration between employed and affiliated clinicians.

Provides input in the development of the quality and access goals of their service line and IMG.

At the request of service line or regional leaders, meets with clinic providers for quality and access issues that may arise.

Supports creating innovative ways of creating access to care for patients.

Participates in the development of the clinic budget each year and helps with problem solving when there is a variance to the budget.

Minimum Qualifications

Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree. Education must be obtained through an ACGME or AOA accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Active Medical Licensure, or in the process of obtaining licensure.

Two years of experience leading successful improvement in clinical settings.

Experience with change management with the ability to provide leadership in the adaptation and implementation of new processes or technology that enhance safety.

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Trained in improvement science (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean, Project management, Advanced Training Program). an

Experience working in a complex health system (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care).

Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.
