OB/GYN Opportunity in a Leading Independent Health System Serving Rural Minnesota

Join the delivery destination of central Minnesota as Lakewood Health System’s newest OB/GYN! Delivering about 500 babies each year to families in the surrounding area, Lakewood’s OB/GYN, family medicine and specialty physicians provide a personalized, collaborative approach to care with the help of amazing advanced practice, nursing, ancillary and support staff.

• 180 Clinical Days + Call. Clinical days are a combination of clinic and OR time.
• On average 2 half days per week blocked in the OR - monitored and adjusted as needed based on demand.
• Common practice is for all delivering physicians come in for their own deliveries.
• GYN call 1:4 with C-Section call 1:7 one week at a time (24X7).
  • Scheduler tries to align both call pools at the same time for efficiency and to reduce call burden.
• When on primary call, the physician must be within 30 minutes of the hospital
  • Call rooms are available for physicians living outside the call radius.
• Take call from home! Live within Staples Motley School District and receive a $25,000 housing stipend towards the purchase or build of a home.
• OB/GYN primarily covers call for high-risk deliveries.

• Hysterectomies and colposcopies, LEEPs, and endometriosis
  • Modern ORs with updated equipment and instruments. Surgical team is very willing to accommodate surgeon preference.
  • No robotics currently but investigating possibility due to recent recruits’ interest.
  • Opportunity for a fairly even mix of OB and Gyn – must be competent in GYN
• Anticipated Volume
  • Approximately 500 deliveries/year, 7-8 deliveries per month per OB/GYN is typical
  • Outpatient: 12-14 patients a day is common
    • Typical new patient appointment times – 40 mins. Flexible to provider preference
    • Typical existing patient appointment times – 20 mins. Flexible to provider preference.

Lakewood’s Level 3 Trauma Center Emergency Department handles over 9,000 visits annually, while the labor and delivery team welcomes around 500 births each year.
