Denver Health is seeking a Department Chair of Inpatient Pediatrics in Denver, CO

Denver Health, in collaboration with the University of Colorado School of Medicine (UCSOM), is seeking a clinically skilled and experienced leader, educator, scholar, and communicator to serve as the Department Chair of Inpatient Pediatrics at Denver Health Medical Center.

About the Role:

The Department Chair oversees all care delivered by the Department of Inpatient Pediatrics and provides overall leadership, including:

  • Strategic planning & leadership – Setting the direction for clinical and academic excellence.
  • Clinical services – Overseeing patient care in the pediatric inpatient service, PICU, NICU, and newborn nursery.
  • Faculty development – Supporting and mentoring medical staff.
  • Medical education – Enhancing pediatric residency training and collaboration with UCSOM.
  • Business performance – Managing departmental resources efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Pediatrics or a Pediatric subspecialty.
  • Leadership experience in a hospital-based pediatric care setting.
  • Strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, and research.

Current Inpatient Pediatrics Team:

The department is supported by a robust provider team, including:

  • NICU: 5 neonatologists, 4 APPs, 4 neonatal hospitalists
  • Well-Baby Nursery: 2 pediatric hospitalists, 4 APPs
  • Wards: 2 pediatric hospitalists
  • PICU: 5 pediatric intensivists

Pediatric Subspecialty Support:

Additional support is provided through the Surgery and Medicine departments, including:

  • 1 Pediatric Epileptologist/Neurologist
  • Pediatric surgeons and subspecialists in ENT, neurosurgery, orthopedics, psychiatry, and medical toxicology

Reporting Structure:

The Director of Inpatient Pediatrics reports to the Chief Medical Officer of Denver Health and collaborates closely with the Chair of Pediatrics at UCSOM for academic roles and responsibilities.
