Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care in Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced Associate Medical Director (MD/DO) to lead, counsel, and engage a frontline clinical workforce of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, focusing on the highest level of care and a high standard of customer satisfaction.
The Associate Medical Director assists in the managing and directing of all clinical services for their assigned urgent care centers and geographic region. Is primarily responsible for the quality of care and, and all issues related to the clinical care-givers within their assigned geographic area. Collaborates across and within regions to share resources, implement improvement initiatives, and optimize clinical, financial, operational and customer service performance.
Education:
- M.D. Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine.
- Completion of Medical Residency with Board Certification or eligibility.
Work Experience:
- Administrative experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or related field, preferably in a major medical center or health system, required.
- Outstanding communication and management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with GoHealth staff, management, health system partners, required.
- Must possess recent experience in generally accepted and currently used methods and techniques.
Required Licenses/Certification:
- Currently licensed as a physician in applicable state.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Clinical skills commensurate with a practice of evidence-based care and knowledge of standard of care for all common urgent care diagnoses
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Super-user level skills with a currently in-use electronic medical record
- Strong experience and skills in presentation of clinical and administrative topics to audiences of clinical and non-clinical staff in both formal in informal settings
- Must live within the market region
- Data analytics
- Super-user level skills in EPIC
Strategic:
- Develop relationships with local providers and service agencies to improve bi-directional patient flow. This will include Mercy-employed, as well as private practice physicians, and other sources of patient referrals as well as follow-up opportunities, such as nursing homes, community agencies, etc.
- Use these relationships to build new programs which support outside entities in their care missions, as well as driving new business to the Mercy-GoHealth network.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and Mercy-GoHealth leadership to address site-specific issues with both targeted and generalized measures to improve performance.
Clinical:
- Provide direct patient care as a scheduled provider for the requisite number of hours per pay period as stipulated by leadership.
- Be a resource for covering sick-out calls both locally and across the market.
- Respond to volume surges and other unforeseen circumstances to preserve the patient experience and prevent patient reneging.
Quality:
- Oversees the following at each site in the local area, including but not limited to:
- Quality and Performance Improvement programming
- Adherence to system Performance standards
- Financial and Budgetary Performance
- Standard operating procedures
- Implementation of technologies and new equipment, coupled with training in those resources
- Perform chart audits for clinical KPI monitoring at the center, organizational, and individual level as directed by the Medical Director
Human Resources:
- Assists in recruitment, provider qualification and training, maintenance of competencies, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluates and remediates providers in collaboration with HR and their policies on employee assessment and discipline.
- Oversees all physicians in the market
Administrative:
- Completes the regional staffing schedule using available automated tools, and dynamically works go keep staffing at correct levels.
- Analyzes needs for higher or lower staffing tied to volume targets, and monitors NPS scores and complaints to identify positive and negative trends needing intervention.
- Works with other regional directors to optimize staffing and scheduling.
- Participates with formal and ad hoc groups within GoHealth and the network Healthcare Partner as needed and requested by the Medical Director.
- Helps to develop, implement and periodically review clinical policies and procedures of the organization, as well as performance standards for providers that guide and support the provision of services in order to maintain and improve the quality of patient care and the proper functioning of the clinics.
- Responds to needs and directs clinical staff during environmental and other unforeseen emergency events as directed by the Medical Director and/or Mercy-GoHealth leadership.
Teaching:
- Mentors new and existing employees in important aspects of care include EMR functionality, equipment use, clinical care and organizational imperatives.
- Formal logged time spent in each assigned clinic will insure that this task is regularly accomplished
- All other duties as assigned.
