Job Description

The Indiana University Health (IU Health) Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a Board-Certified Gynecologic Oncologist at Associate or Full Professor for the leadership position as Division Chief of Gynecologic Oncology.  This is a full-time faculty member position with the opportunity to lead a division of 5 gynecologic oncologists and 3 advanced practice providers with plans for further expansion.  IU Health is the premier academic medical center and primary referral hospital for the state of Indiana.  The department supports teaching for the largest medical school in the state, a residency program with 10 residents per year, and three fellowship programs with a pending application for a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship.  
The opportunity will be predominantly at the IU University Hospital and the Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis which serves as Indiana’s only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.  The division also provides Gynecologic Oncology care at two other hospitals: IU North in Carmel, Indiana as well as Eskenazi Hospital, the adjacent county hospital in Indianapolis; with plans to expand to IU Arnett in Lafayette, Indiana.  Faculty also provide coverage for complicated obstetrical emergencies at Riley Hospital for Children.

This is a full-spectrum opportunity to lead the division in providing advanced open, robotic and laparoscopic surgery, chemotherapy, oncology consultation expertise, access to clinical trials, and obstetric hemorrhage/abnormal placentation surgical support. Our approach to multidisciplinary cancer care involves radiation oncology, pathology, precision genomics/genetics, social work, patient navigation, palliative care and extensive supportive services in our treatment plans.

IU School of Medicine at IU Health has a strong record of supporting grant funding for educators and researchers.  The selected candidate will contribute to academic excellence through teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Additional contributions could include leadership in the cancer center, clinical trials involvement, surgical teaching through simulation and labs, didactics, journal club, quality improvement initiatives, and committee leadership.   This position will be required to work in a diverse team-based setting and support the department's commitment to education, leadership, and research consistent with the academic mission of Indiana University.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and the subspecialty of Gynecologic Oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Associate-professor or full professor preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with strong interest in clinical care, research and education
  • Extensive experience in full-scope management of gynecologic cancers, including minimally invasive surgery and chemotherapy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment in a large, dynamic health system.
  • Experience with clinical trials preferred.
  • Strong interest in education (UME/GME) with prior experience preferred.
  • Eligible for and able to maintain an Indiana State medical license.
