Summary:
The Department of Neurology at New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center seeks to add an adult Epileptologist to join our growing Epilepsy Center. We have a growing pediatric and adult epilepsy program that emphasizes collaboration between network hospitals and the main campus to provide seamless access to advanced epilepsy care. Our multidisciplinary team includes two epilepsy neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, a neuropsychologist, and EEG technologists, supported by a full array of diagnostic and therapeutic tools. These include PET, advanced MRI, stereotactic laser ablation, responsive neurostimulation, deep brain stimulation, vagal nerve stimulation, robotic depth electrode placement, and an active intracranial monitoring program. Our Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory (EEG) offers comprehensive services, including routine, ambulatory, and long-term video-EEG for adults, children, and neonates. Continuous EEG monitoring is available across the neuro, medical, trauma, and pediatric ICUs. This integrated approach ensures patients throughout the network receive timely, expert care for both routine and complex epilepsy cases.
Job Responsibilities:
Clinical duties will include providing adult EEG and epilepsy services across the Westchester Medical Health Network, with a focus on enhancing outpatient epilepsy access and EEG monitoring services in a community hospital setting. Responsibilities will include outpatient epilepsy management including neurostimulation device programming, interpreting outpatient and acute care EEGs, attending in our new state-of-the-art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and collaborating with inpatient neurology teams. There is also an opportunity to serve as a site director of the epilepsy program. Applicants with interests in clinical epilepsy care, including refractory and new-onset epilepsy, continuous EEG monitoring, and program development in community settings, are encouraged to apply. A commitment to the education of trainees at all levels, including medical students, residents, and fellows, is highly valued. This position is ideal for a collaborative, team-oriented individual eager to help grow an epilepsy program that offers a variety of medical and surgical epilepsy cases. Opportunities exist to contribute to advanced epilepsy care, such as functional brain mapping and intracranial EEG, though these are not required.
