Hospitalist MD/DO - Maryview Medical Center - Portsmouth VA

Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full time MD/DO Hospitalist to join our exceptional team!

• Full time -180 shifts annually / 15 shifts per month average
  • Base compensation plus extra shift pay 
  • All MD's share shifts equally - rounding, swing and overnight - 24/7 onsite coverage
  • Rounding shift shared by 5 MD's - typically 90-100 patients per shift
  • 12 hour shifts - Swing is 10a-10p M-F and 9a-9p weekends
  • Night shift is 8p-8a - typically 1x per month   
  • This is a flexible schedule - NOT 7 on/7off - schedule is worked out by all providers 60-90 days in advance and holidays are scheduled beginning of the year.  This allows our physicians to tell us what shifts they want to work and when they want to be off, which allows for much better happiness and work/life balance.  

• Closed Medical ICU
• Option to perform procedures but not required
• Residents run codes and RRTs, overnight pronouncements
• 7 to 10 admissions on average - but this can vary depending on time of year

• Open to a new Grad MD/DO - but prefer 2 to 3 years of hospitalist experience
