Job Description

UT Health East Texas is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible emergency medicine physician to join our dynamic team at the UT Health North Campus in Tyler, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality emergency medical care in a certified Level IV trauma center, with the support and resources of a comprehensive health system. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to a diverse patient population
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, advanced practice clinicians, and specialists
  • Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record system for accurate and timely documentation
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities

Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in emergency medicine (ABEM or ABOEM)
  • Active and unrestricted Texas medical license (or eligibility to obtain one)
  • DEA certification
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills with the ability to work independently

Facility Highlights
  • Certified Level IV trauma center by the state of Texas
  • Annual visits: 11,242, with a patient rate of 1.34 per hour
  • 24 hours of physician coverage with 12-hour shifts
  • Laboratory and imaging services on-site with advanced imaging available
  • 10 inpatient rooms, 2 trauma rooms, and an isolation room
  • Ability to transfer to nearby UT Health Tyler Level 1 trauma center, if needed
  • Total hospital beds: 130
