Job Summary:
The Medical Director will be an active member of a team which develops and implements a comprehensive health program at the clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide medical care and treatment at sites approved by the Board of Directors regardless of a patient’s ability to pay including Medicaid, Medicare, and underinsured patients.
2. Provide Medical Clinical support/guidance to operational meetings. This may include but is not limited to:
· Provider and staff evaluations
· Financial/AR meetings respective to your service department/area
· Medical Review Committee and Medical provider meetings
· Operational leadership meetings
· Executive/Administrative meeting as necessary
3. Assure after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage by establishing a rotating call schedule, within reasonable limits.
4. Promptly prepare and maintain accurate records of services provided in the patient medical records in accordance with Clinical Policies and Procedures of JVCHC, all State and Federal laws, and any other recognized regulatory agency requirements.
5. Assure all Medical Providers within their supervision follow established clinical policies and procedures.
6. Responsible for the control of controlled substances: administering handling, inventory, and record-keeping in accordance with the clinic’s Controlled Medication Policy.
7. Manage disciplinary actions and provider issues with support from the operations director.
8. Assist fellow clinicians as necessary to facilitate effective and timely health care to the patients of JVCHC.
9. Develop and maintain written job performance evaluations for the medical personnel.
10. Assist in approval of PTO and all scheduling of continuing and professional education (including maintenance of CME requirements), in-service training and orientation of the clinical staff.
11. Attend all required in-service training programs, staff meetings, and provider contract negotiations.
12. Participate, as appropriate, in conjunction with the operations director and manager, in the periodic review of practice management functions (e.g. reception, telephone triage, patient flow, laboratory, tracking systems, etc.)
13. Review all patient complaints as they relate to clinic care.
14. Implement recommended changes as approved by the Executive Team.
15. Attains all agreed goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the Clinic’s overall mission.
