Kenmare is a charming small town located 50 miles northwest of Minot and 25 miles south of the Canadian border. Kenmare boasts the tagline “Real People, Real Jobs, Real Adventures” and that’s just what you’ll find in this family-friending, farming community with a population of approximately 1,200. Outdoor recreation opportunities are bountiful in Kenmare with a swimming pool, tennis courts, softball field, and golf course. Plus Kenmare is located on the edge of the Dec Lacs National Wildlife Refuge which boasts amazing opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. You can also take advantage of hunting, canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. If the outdoors aren’t your thing, take in a movie at the local movie theater (don’t worry they’re showing current run movies) or enjoy a drink at the old-time soda fountain in the unique town square. Plus Kenmare offers a number of popular community events like a Wine Walk & Shop, Goosefest, Easter Egg Hunt, Sham-ROCK the Square, Pioneer Days, Haunted Hayride, and the Holiday Train.
Kenmare has both a public elementary and high school with a total of about 300 students enrolled each year. Students are able to thrive with the small class sizes and ample afterschool activities like volleyball, music, and FFA just to name a few.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the simpler times in a town where people know and help their neighbors and look up to the community doctor.
