Expertise in Ophthalmology? Join Us for Utilization Reviews!

For over 40 years, Medical Review Institute of America, LLC (MRIoA), a national Independent Review Organization, has been at the forefront of facilitating reviews of medical treatments to ensure the appropriateness of those treatments.

Our panel of reviewers provides professional, independent, and unbiased opinions, citing medical literature and treatment guidelines. The aim of these reviews is to deliver the “right care, at the right time, in the right place” for patients.

Is Review Work Right for You?

  • Excellent way to subsidize your income, while reading medical journals and guidelines specifically about Ophthalmology.
  • Stay informed of the latest changes in Ophthalmology and learning what treatments are being utilized by other Ophthalmologists nationwide.
  • Learn how to get your own Prior Authorizations to treatment approved more quickly and easily.
  • Enjoy the flexibility to manage your own schedule, with daytime availability required for peer-to-peer conversations.

Most MRIoA reviewers average 1-2 hours per week, with no minimum expectations. You can choose to become more involved if desired. Cases typically take 30-60 minutes to complete and often involve a peer-to-peer conversation with the treating provider to obtain necessary clarifications. Additional compensation is provided for peer-to-peer calls.

Additional Information:

  • You will be covered under MRIoA’s Errors and Omissions policy (traditional Malpractice Insurance is not applicable for review work).
  • Work from anywhere within the USA (per HIPAA Regulations, patient records cannot leave the US).
  • This is a non-employed Independent Contractor (1099) opportunity.

Requirements:

  • Must have some daytime availability to conduct peer-to-peer phone calls.
  • Must be Board Certified in Ophthalmology.
  • Must have solid computer navigation skills.
  • Must have an unrestricted medical license in New Mexico, DC, Maryland or Virginia.
  • Must be a US Citizen or hold a Green Card (we are unable to sponsor a VISA).
