Job Description

Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities. 

UT Tyler School of Medicine is hiring a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician to join our elite team at UT Health East Texas, the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center in Tyler. As part of UT Health Tyler, one of 10 facilities within UT Health East Texas, you'll be at the forefront of emergency care in a facility that also serves as a Level II Primary Stroke Center and the hub for UT Health East Texas EMS and AIR 1.

Position Highlights:

  • Team Composition: 15 Emergency Medicine Physicians and 7 Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Facility Details: 36 ED beds, including three exam rooms, currently staffed at 24 (12 holding beds).
  • EMR: Epic.
  • Group: Single-Specialty - UT Health East Texas Physicians Medical Group.
  • Schedule: Flexible 12-hour shifts, totaling 12 shifts per month.
  • Qualifications: ABEM board certified/eligible. Both experienced and graduating Emergency Medicine physicians are encouraged to apply.

About UT Tyler School of Medicine:

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System. Its mission is to train future healthcare professionals to embrace responsibility for the unique needs of rural and hard-to-reach communities and populations, particularly those in East Texas.

 

The school offers a robust Graduate Medical Education program, with 20 residency and fellowship training programs, enabling graduates to gain specialized skills in areas such as family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, surgery, and anesthesia. Construction is currently underway on a five-story, 248,000-square-foot Medical Education Building (MEB) in Tyler’s Midtown District. Connected by a skybridge to UT Health Tyler, the MEB will support interdisciplinary education for medical students and resident training. It will also aid as part of a medical education program expansion throughout the UT Health East Texas Health System. The building is scheduled for completion in fall of 2025.
