Position Overview:
As a Structural Heart Cardiologist with Mercy Health Cardiology, you will play a key role in managing complex structural heart cases and contributing to the growth of our advanced cardiovascular program. You will be responsible for performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, providing patient management, and performing cutting-edge procedures for adult and geriatric patients. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-volume, interdisciplinary environment, with a focus on structural heart interventions such as TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, and PCI.
You will also have the opportunity to teach and mentor cardiology fellows, fostering the next generation of cardiologists while contributing to clinical research and advancing our program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert diagnosis and treatment for adult and geriatric patients with structural heart conditions.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including echocardiograms, CT scans, and other imaging studies for structural heart disease.
- Conduct and collaborate in advanced structural heart interventions, including TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, PCI, and cardiac catheterization.
- Participate in a busy call schedule with both interventional and general cardiology coverage.
- Provide care in the outpatient office and inpatient settings, collaborating with referring physicians and specialists.
- Engage in teaching and mentoring cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Contribute to clinical research, quality improvement, and the development of the structural heart program.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in structural cardiology and implement best practices into patient care.
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with some extended hours as needed.
- Weekend and Call Schedule: Current call schedule is 1:4, with 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM interventional and general cardiology coverage.
- Typical Week: Includes 3 procedure days and 2 office days.
Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in Structural Heart Disease or Interventional Cardiology with a focus on structural heart procedures.
- Board certification or eligibility in Cardiology.
- Expertise in performing structural heart interventions and managing complex cardiac cases.
- Proficiency in performing procedures such as TAVR, MitraClip, PCI, Watchman, and cardiac catheterization.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A passion for teaching and mentoring cardiology fellows.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Ohio or eligibility for licensure.
Patient Base:
- Adult/Geriatric Population: You will care for patients referred to the program, providing expert diagnosis and management of structural heart disease.
Equipment:
- EKG, Echmo machine, and advanced imaging technologies for structural heart interventions.
