We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General Surgeon to join our Wake Forest Health Network Surgical Specialties - Wilkes surgical team in North Wilkesboro, NC. The General Surgeon will provide comprehensive surgical care, including pre-operative evaluations, performing surgeries, and managing post-operative recovery. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of general surgery skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a community-focused setting.

What You’ll Do: 

Physicians work to care for patients in a variety of ways, from treating chronic illnesses to advising about preventative healthcare. While physician specialties might vary, the commonality across specialties is that physicians primarily work to diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses. They often do this by performing physical exams, taking medical histories, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, and recommending a plan of treatment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of general surgical procedures
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical plans
  • Manage post-operative care, including monitoring recovery and follow-up care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and families on surgical options, procedures, and recovery expectations

Position Requirements: 

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school as a M.D./D.O.
  • Successful completion of residency and at an accredited healthcare institution. 
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License as a current M.D./D.O.
  • Board certification in related field from said residency. 
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required 
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing required

  • Competitive Compensation: Receive a guaranteed salary for a two-year contract term. 
  • Productivity Bonuses: Additional incentives based on high productivity wRVU goals.
  • Sign-On Bonus: Receive a $40,000 sign-on bonus paid within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Multi-Year Bonus: Earn up to $30,000 over three years ($10,000 each anniversary year).
  • Relocation Bonus: Receive a $10,000 reimbursement for relocation expenses.
  • Generous PTO: Starts at 20 days/year plus 7 holidays, with 5 additional PTO days for CME activities during the initial 2-year term. Transition to a Managed Time Off (MTO) plan offering flexibility after the initial two-year term.
  • CME Reimbursement: Up to $3,500 plus 5 additional PTO days/year.
