Outpatient Headache APP
This unique position focuses on delivering specialized neurologic healthcare to individuals and families affected by headaches. The associate provider will assess and manage the healthcare needs related to neurology, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and both acute and chronic illness diagnosis and treatment. Key treatments include performing specialized procedures such as Botox injections, nerve blocks, and trigger point injections. Additional opportunities may include aspects of teaching, and research/QI.
Key Clinical Responsibilities:
Assesses physical and psychosocial health status of patient and family by taking health histories and conducting comprehensive physical examinations.
Orders appropriate diagnostic/screening tests to evaluate patient’s current health status.
Formulates diagnosis and implement treatment plan to manage acute illness and stable chronic illness consulting with and making a referral to physician colleagues and other health care providers as indicated.
Consults and collaborates with a department physician or appropriate specialist to plan and manage the care for patients with unstable or complex acute or chronic illness. Facilitates transfer of patient to the primary care physician when the complexity of care exceeds scope of practice.
Evaluates patient’s progress during follow up visits and implement revised plan of care.
Prescribes and/or dispenses medication.
Provides patient education with emphasis on the promotion of health and wellness and the prevention of illness and disability.
Provides guidance and counseling for both individuals and families.
Demonstrates patient advocacy that insures the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent.
Attends continuing education programs to ensure ongoing professional growth and development to meet licensure requirements.
Requirements:
At least two years of experience as an APRN or PA
Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA academic program
National specialty certification as FNP, PNP, or certification through the NCCPA
Ability to obtain/maintain PA or RN & APRN licensure in the State of New Hampshire
