St. Luke's Hospital is a JCAHO-accredited hospital providing primary and acute healthcare services to Polk County, N.C., and Upstate South Carolina. Managed by Carolinas HealthCare System, St. Luke's is a 55-bed hospital, designated by the federal government as a "critical access hospital," which allows for cost-based Medicare reimbursements, as part of a nationwide program to keep vital healthcare services available in under-served areas. St. Luke's is the only hospital in its primary service area and provides a 24-hour physician-staffed emergency department and specialized medical and surgical services usually associated with much larger hospitals. Also residing on the St. Luke's campus is the Polk County EMS and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

The Medical Staff of St. Luke’s Hospital includes general and orthopaedic surgery, emergency, ophthalmology, radiology, pathology, internal medicine, family practice, urology, hematology/oncology, pulmonology, gerontology, psychiatry, palliative care, podiatry and gynecology. Courtesy and consulting staff includes the following specialties: cardiology, dermatology, dentistry and neurology. Consulting staff or limited hours of following specialties: urology, hematology/oncology, pulmonology, gerontology, podiatry, gynecology, cardiology, dermatology, dentistry and neurology.

Tryon/Landrum/Saluda/Columbus areas remain small but vibrant and feature unique businesses, restaurants, entertainment, arts/crafts, music, cultural opportunities here, with close proximity to larger, metropolitan areas of Charlotte, Spartanburg/Grenville, Asheville, and Atlanta.

The local cultural scene includes Tryon Fine Arts Center that features visual and performing arts, the Tryon Little Theatre, Tryon Arts and Crafts and Tryon Music Foundation.
