A dynamic opportunity exists within the Section of General Surgery at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, in beautiful Lebanon, NH. This position allows for you to be part of an interprofessional team and manage complex and critically ill surgical patients from a wide range of surgical sub-specialties, including general surgery, bariatric surgery, trauma surgery, colorectal surgery, and complex surgical resections of GI malignancies. The Advanced Practice Provider who joins our team has the unique opportunity of a position seated within Acute Care Surgery while floating to our Surgical subspecialties within General Surgery.
In this role, you will be responsible for inpatient management of your own cohort of patients, executing clinical decision-making, procedures according to credentialing, complex discharge planning and transitions in care, care coordination, and education of patients, families, and staff. This position requires flexibility for day-to-day responsibilities, as well as scheduling based on the inpatient team's needs but is limited to day-shift only. The typical schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week. This is an inpatient-focused role with minimal OR time/first assisting. Opportunities for professional growth and development are available through research, lecturing, publications, and involvement with departmental and hospital projects and committees.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree as Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- 2 years of inpatient or ER experience
- Current ACLS certification
- NH state license or ability to obtain NH state license
