Opportunity Details

Your duties include but not limited to working collaboratively with a physician and under the clinical supervision of the Medical Directors. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) provides medical evaluations and ongoing medication treatment to Oncology patients being co-managed with Oncology specialist physicians. This patient population includes solid tumor, malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant, CAR-T therapy and other clinical cancer research trial patients.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Participates in data collection related to the patients’ status and needs.
  • Perform initial hospital admissions and initiate care coordination for patients being admitted
    either for primary treatment of oncologic issues or medical-surgical issues.
  • Collaborate with specialists and incorporate consultant recommendations into the treatment
    plan.
  • Provides direct patient care to hospitalized Oncology patients within scope of practice to ensure
    implementation of the plan of care.
  • Informs and instructs patients/significant others on patient’s health/illness state and plan of
    care.
  • Documents clearly all aspects of patient care in the electronic medical record.
  • Administers medications and parenteral therapy in accordance with established policies.

Preferred candidates should have:

  • At least 2 years of acute care hospital experience as an APN
  • Prior experience as a bedside nurse preferably in oncology, ICU, or ER setting
  • Prior Oncology experience strongly preferred but not necessary.
