The Louis A Johnson Clarksburg VAMC is looking for a Gastroenterologist to join our team. Duties & Responsibilities:
Surgical procedures, with required expertise in all areas of Gastroenterology including:
- Proctoscopy and/or flexible sigmoidoscopy
- Diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy
- Esophageal dilation
- Colonoscopy, including biopsy and polypectomy
- Therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
- Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy
- Administration of Moderate Sedation
- Supervision/teaching of surgical residents.
- Providing consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards.
- Participation in committees.
Preferred Experience: Board Certified or Board Eligible.

EDRP Authorized: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after completing review of the EDRP application.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Contract BuyOut Program - This position may be eligible for the Physician contract buy out program, which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign on bonus contracts, Physician owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
Excellent work schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.; however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the service/medical center. On-call responsibilities as required.

The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center is a general medical and surgical hospital with 98 beds, located on a 16-acre site adjacent to the Veterans Memorial Park and the West Virginia State Nursing Home in the city of Clarksburg, West Virginia. It serves a Veteran population of approximately 70,000 in north central West Virginia and adjacent counties in Maryland, Ohio and Pennsylvania. In FY07 the medical center treated 19,554 unique patients through 216,090 outpatient visits and 3,541 admissions.
The facility was initially dedicated on December 7, 1950 and was enhanced with the clinical addition in 1989. Named after Louis A. Johnson, Secretary of Defense under President Truman, this medical center has been an active teaching facility since 1960 by participating in residency and academic affiliations with the West Virginia University, Fairmont State University, Alderson-Broaddus College and other nearby institutions of higher education.
