The Oklahoma VA Healthcare System (Enid Clinic) is actively recruiting and is seeking full-time board certified/board eligible Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physicians to join our Primary Care Health Team. The primary care provider will function as a highly skilled, independent care provider in the management of patients, you’ll be part of an interdisciplinary care team with access to state-of-the-art medicine and some of the most advanced medical technologies available. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic member of a multidisciplinary team in the Primary Care setting.  Independent workstyle.  Prior experience in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine or women’s health. The physician serves as a Primary Care Provider (PCP) at a Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The CBOC operates under a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Model. The PACT provides comprehensive care for our Veteran population, including the diagnoses, care, and treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. Common diagnoses encountered include diabetes, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, degenerative arthritis, depression, congestive heart failure, and chronic pain. Community-based outpatient clinics allow Veterans to receive care close to where they live and increases access to health and wellness services. The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage medical care for a panel of Veterans enrolled in Primary Care
  • Timely entry and use of the electronic medical record system for documentation, workload capture, alert management, and for review of Veterans' current and future medical care needs
  • Serves as the leader of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT)
  • Cross-cover for other medical providers as needed throughout the health care system.
  • Work in collaboration with PACT members to ensure the overall safety and quality of each Veteran's care.
  • Responsible for all performance metrics related to patient quality of care.
  • Responsible for positive customer service in all aspects of care
  • Participate in quality improvement, quality assurance, continuous survey readiness, and committee/work groups in collaboration with others.
  • Maintain licensures and certifications requisite for credentials and privileges at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System (OKC VAHCS)
  • Meet ethical and professional standards as written in the Medical Staff Bylaws and ensure that work relations are in compliance with facility standards and expectations as written and communicated.

 

The OKC VAHCS is located in Oklahoma City, OK and is the “Flagship” for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System (OKC VAHCS) - a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b (medium complexity) facility. The Primary Care department serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 70,000 veterans in an area to include in 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas. Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00 am - 5:00 pm.

  • U.S. Citizens receive preference – non-U.S. Citizens may be considered.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
  • Preferred Characteristics: Board Certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine, but Board Eligibility may also be considered.

Starting pay is $220,000 - $300,000 per year.

  • A recruitment incentive may be offered, and there is potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
  • Retirement: Federal Retirement Plan thru the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) - A three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan, with up to 5% government matching contributions
  • Eligible for Education Debt Repayment Program. (EDRP)
  • Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
  • Recruitment/Relocation Incentives available.
  • Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
  • Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
  • Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
  • CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

  • Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting

Federal Retirement Plan:

  • VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
  • How is the pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 12.2% of the employee’s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 16.6% of the employee’s salary
  • Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service. For calendar year 2020, employees under the age of 50 may contribute up to $19,500, while those over age 50 are eligible to make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $25,500.
  • The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
  • For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
  • In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
  • Disability Retirement
  • Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years service
