Psychiatry Leadership Role in Award-Winning Saratoga Springs, NY

Medical Director, Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Behavioral Health

Saratoga Hospital seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, board-certified psychiatrist for a full-time position, in a combined clinical and leadership role as Medical Director of our expanding Behavioral Health Service in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Details:

  • Provide leadership for the hospital’s 16-bed adult inpatient unit and consultation-liaison program.
  • Approximately 75% clinical and 25% administrative
    • The clinical portion will be split between consultation liaison service and providing support for our full-time inpatient Psychiatrist with an APP.
  • Our Consultation Liaison Coordinator, an LCSW, sees patients on service with physician input and consultations as needed.
  • Participation in a reasonable inpatient psychiatry call schedule is expected.
  • Exceptional opportunity for a physician to work in our established community psychiatry program
  • Continue to grow the current behavioral health service line in support of primary care physicians and expand the collaborative care model
  • Our growing medical staff is known for collegial relationships, including those with the hospital-employed psychiatrists at Saratoga Hospital’s Community Health Center and Saratoga County Mental Health Center.
  • An exceptionally dedicated multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals provides care on the inpatient mental health unit, including one full time psychiatrist, per diem psychiatrists, registered nurses, social workers, therapy assistants, and clinical director and Executive Director of Behavioral Health, who has been more recently focused on expanding our outpatient programs.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Base salary starts at $330 - $350k, commensurate with experience

Requirements:

  • The candidate will have working knowledge of regulations and ability to foster and continue successful relationships on behalf of the hospital with the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and The Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), known as OMRDD prior to 2010
  • Experience with reimbursement from third-party payors is essential
  • EPIC EMR experience is helpful. Training is available. 

The Medical Director is a liaison and leader of our employed Psychiatrists in our Behavioral Health division, including our outpatient settings:

  • Saratoga Community Health Center, One psychiatrist, one APP; one addiction medicine physician (Family Medicine trained). Integrated with Primary Care and Dental
  • Wilton Primary Care – One psychiatrist Integrated with Primary Care
  • Saratoga County Mental Health – three adult Psychiatrists, a half time child-adolescent Psychiatrist and per diem/PT child adolescent psychiatrist; three part time and one FT APP
  • Milton Primary Care - One APP

Saratoga Hospital and The Saratoga Regional YMCA opened a 55,000 square foot facility on the Malta campus in 2018,  a shared facility that is the home for hospital-affiliated medical and specialty offices and the Y’s Malta Branch. This Y is the first of its kind in the area and will incorporate traditional Y health and wellness activities and programs, as well as a unique level of design, which creates an integrated facility that collectively serves the needs of individuals in the community. Our medical offices at this space include: primary care, sports medicine, specialty physician suite in addition to the Regional Therapy Center offering PT, OT, Speech, including specialty programs of Vestibular Rehab, Pelvic Floor and Aquatic Therapy program.

A third building opened in 2021, The Bone and Joint Surgery Center at Exit 12, a joint venture with Albany Medical Center, Saratoga Hospital and Capital Region Orthopedic Associates.

The medical park is located close to Luther Forest Technology Campus where the GlobalFoundries TM is located. The $ 4.2 billion chip factory manufactures computer chips from silicon wafers which has brought hundreds of families to the region.
