The Position
St. Lawrence Health is looking for a full-time Cardiologist to join our team of dedicated providers!
- The ideal candidate will be BC in Cardiology and have prior leadership experience
- Physician is anticipated to allocate 20% to administrative role as Regional Medical Director and 80% to clinical work
- The Regional Medical Director is responsible to set standards and expectations of quality, patient safety and other important outcomes. In addition, the Regional Medical Director ensures that all clinical activities are compliant with regulatory and accreditation standards. Finally, the Regional Medical Director exemplifies emotional maturity in his/her behavior and holds all service line members to the same standard. Applying effective leadership requires close partnerships that cross departmental and service line boundaries such as partnerships with affiliate, operational, nursing, finance and other leaders.
- Play key role in collaborating in the development of a geographically and clinically integrated service line.
- Oversee quality of health care delivered throughout the service line and resolve any identified deficiencies.
- Champion teaching and educational support and ensure a program of continuing medical education is implemented for service line members.
- Ensure departmental compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Participate and provide departmental leadership to support and further the strategic aims of the health system.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that achieve consistency, standardization and efficiency.
- Clinical responsibilities are primarily based at Canton-Potsdam Hospital (CPH) with outreach clinics Gouverneur Hospital (GH) and Massena Hospital (MH). Cardiology team typically provide cardiology services 2-3 days per week at outreach clinics.
- Cardiologist will provide full scope of practice with outpatient and inpatient work including oversight of service line at outreach clinics.
- Skills: Nuclear Reads, EKG, Stress Testing, Echo.
- On-call is 1:4 consisting mostly of phone encounters from ED and Hospitalists.

- Compensation: $660,000-$735,000*
- Signing Bonus: $50,000

Core Hospitals
SLH is comprised of three hospitals and a number of outreach primary and specialty care practices throughout St. Lawrence County. Each practice is affiliated with one of our hospitals.
- Canton-Potsdam Hospital (CPH) is a not-for-profit community healthcare facility certified for 94 beds. Its core programs include emergency medicine, acute care, hospitalist medicine, critical care, and a Level III Trauma Center that is fully equipped to provide rapid and thorough trauma care to adults involved in physically traumatic situations.
- Gouverneur Hospital (GH) is a not-for-profit critical access hospital certified for 25 beds. Services include emergency care, medical imaging and EKGs, laboratory, physical rehabilitation, and respiratory therapy. GH also houses our comprehensive substance abuse rehabilitation programs, including medicated assisted treatment, and behavioral therapies.
- Massena Hospital (MH) is a 25-bed acute care hospital providing inpatient, medical, surgical, and detoxification services in addition to emergency care. MH’s main campus also provides medical imaging and laboratory services, nutritional counseling, respiratory care, cardiac rehabilitation, and inpatient physical and speech therapies. Outreach health centers offer the community cardiology, infusion, nephrology, neurology, OB-GYN and women’s health, pediatrics, and primary care.
