Geisinger Medical Center is the receiving center for high acuity pediatric patients from 10 other system hospitals, spanning 31 counties. Geisinger Medical Center has level 1 trauma designation for adults and level 2 for pediatric patients. Children admitted from our ED are cared for in Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, a 90-bed, 5-floor on-site children’s hospital that includes a 14-bed PICU and 41-bed NICU. Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center recently transitioned to a level III NICU in 2024.
