Join Maximus as a Florida Workers' Compensation Expert Medical Advisor (FL WC EMA). This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert medical opinions, peer reviews, and expert testimony to resolve disputes in the Florida Workers' Compensation system.

Position Overview

Program: Florida Workers' Compensation (FL WC EMR)
Role: Physicians act as Expert Medical Advisors (EMAs) to:

• Resolve disputes related to reimbursement, healthcare services, and physician treatment.
• Provide expert medical opinions, peer reviews, and testimony to Judges of Compensation Claims.
• Address disagreements between independent medical examiners or other healthcare providers.

Your expertise will carry legal presumption of correctness, making your evaluations critical to resolving workers' compensation disputes.

Key Qualifications

To qualify as an EMA, candidates must meet the following:

• Licensure: Clean, active Florida Department of Health medical license.
• Board Certification: Certification in a specialty relevant to occupational health diseases and injuries.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-training experience in your specialty.
• Patient Care: Active involvement in direct patient care.
• Must become certified with FL WC EMR (Maximus will support this process).

Once certified, your EMA status will be valid for 2 years, subject to maintaining qualifications.

Reimbursement Details

• Expert Medical Opinion Services: $300/hour (up to 7 hours per case, unless pre-approved for additional hours).
• Ancillary Services: Separate reimbursement for:
  • Injured employee physical exams.
  • Medical record reviews.
  • Depositions or expert testimony.
  • Travel expenses.
