Faculty Appointment – Pediatric Stroke Neurology, Little Rock, AR

The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s is seeking candidates to join a renowned neurology section and lead the development of a pediatric stroke program at Arkansas Children’s.

 

Opportunity Highlights:

  • The section of Pediatric Neurology seeks to add a fellowship trained stroke neurologist to advance the care of pediatric stroke in the state of Arkansas though oversight of the clinical, educational and research aspects of the stroke program.
  • The director would have dedicated time in the pediatric and cardiovascular ICUs in order to build the neurocritical care service as well as participation in outpatient clinics. General inpatient rotations would be shared with currently neurology faculty.
  • The position would have a high level of collaboration with the neurocritical care team, neuro-interventional radiologist, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and neurorehabilitation services.
  • Arkansas Children’s Hospital is the state’s only comprehensive children’s medical center. Care resources are deployed broadly across the state with the main campus in Little Rock comprised of a 336-bed facility including a Level I trauma center; 3 ICUs and a Level 4 NICU.
  • The pediatric neurology section at ACH is home to 14 physicians, 2 PhD neuroscientists, 4 APRNs, and a child neurology residency program.  The neurology section has a broad base of sub-specialization including an active Level 4 NAEC epilepsy center, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy Certified Care Center; Cure SMA Center of Excellence as well as specialty clinics for epilepsy, headaches, tics, spasticity, demyelinating disorders and much more.  
  • Led by William Steinbach MD, Pediatrics is the largest department at UAMS and dedicated to a collaborative, healthy culture and investing in faculty growth, which includes a dedicated mentoring program for junior faculty that aligns early career physicians with resources and institution leaders to provide coaching and guidance while fostering career advancement.
  • Our faculty enjoy a diverse practice which includes inpatient service, outpatient clinic, teaching and research time as well as clinic opportunities in our ACH campus in Jonesboro.
